Mahle expands technical center in Shanghai

SHANGHAI - German supplier Mahle completed the expansion of its r&d center in suburban Shanghai.

The company added 15,000 square meters of production space and 3,200 square meters of office space to the facility.

Aside from serving as an r&d center, the expansion, completed last week, now also houses a Bosch Mahle Turbo Systems production facility, a plant for industrial filtration, and a production line for tools for the filtration and engine peripherals business.

Bosch Mahle Turbo System is a 50-50 joint venture between Mahle and Germany's Robert Bosch. It mainly produces turbochargers for gasoline engines to be sold in China.

Mahle, based in Stuttgart, has 11 plants in China that produce pistons, piston castings, bearings, filters and other components.
